Virtual Young Reader Conference: May 7, 2010
This free one-day event was designed to provide NIE and YEA professionals with information and resources they need to strengthen and expand their programs.
From the comfort of their own desks, participants learned more about: changes in and implications of Audit Bureau of Circulations regulations; winning projects from our 2010 Young Reader Award contest; potential changes to and implications of educational policy; and our latest research on the state of NIE and youth editorial programs.
Sessions wereoffered in webinar format. Each offered an opportunity for questions and answers. View archived webinar materials from this conference.
In addition to learning opportunities, the virtual conference served as the springboard for networking with your NIE and YEA colleagues on a local or statewide basis.
“As soon as I learned the NAA Foundation was switching its annual Young Reader Conference to a virtual format, I started to make plans to hold a state gathering of our NIE professionals for the same day,” said Mary Miller, education services director of the New York News Publishers Association.
“We'll log into the sessions as a group and still be able to interact with peers face-to-face. This gives us the best of both worlds: ‘attending’ the national meeting and gleaning the best ideas from around the country and Canada, while minimizing travel expense and time away from the office.”
